How am I using AI?
AI has been a game-changer for me in finally feeling like I'm on top of things, instead of scrambling to stay afloat. Here are just a few examples of what I've built this year:
- A weekly accountability routine that tracks my calendar and to do list and sets me up for success
- A conference planning tool that made me a personalised Screen Forever program based on my goals and projects: highlighting sessions, delegates and meetings to book, and offering background research.
- A company website for Epic Films
- A finance dashboard that tracks all of my project budgets and accounts and lets me know when something needs attention
- A website and connected dashboard for We Interrupt This Broadcast that automates and streamlines many of our background admin tasks, from episode planning through to scheduling and promotion
- Iris, a personal dashboard that brings all of my projects and knowledge together as a 'second brain'
I know we're all worried about how AI will affect us as an industry, and I'm not here to try and shift your personal boundaries or world view. What I want to do is share what's possible and open up a conversation around the potential grey areas you might run into, so you can make clear decisions about how and when you want to use different AI tools... if at all.
Workshops built especially for the industry, by someone who gets it
In early September I spoke at Screenworks' Regional to Global conference about the ways I'm using AI, and have since connected with over 100 of you from across the screen industry about what you want to learn, and what your hesitations are.
Based on that feedback, I've designed two ways to learn: a one-off workshop to get you started, or an ongoing cohort where I'll support you to build a full AI system around your goals.
You don't need a technical background. Instead, bring your own experience, knowledge and vision for the work you want to do, so we can set you up for success without compromising your values.
I'll be combining my experience as a producer, AI builder, leadership coach and screen industry mentor to help you use AI in a way that balances your ambition with your boundaries.
Tuesday 27 October, 3pm to 5:30pm AEDT
Online. 2.5 hours. Replay available for 30 days.
The best place to start. Get the foundations right and see how AI can help you streamline your admin. We'll get you set up in Claude Chat and Claude Cowork, and build something you can use straight away.
What we'll cover
- The basics of Claude and how to set up the platform
- What actually happens to your data
- How to set boundaries for your personal use of AI
- Connecting your email, calendar, to do list and other tools
- Creating a Skill that you can use to streamline regular tasks
- Creating a mini dashboard to refer to within Claude
- Automating scheduled tasks
Follow along with customised demo prompts and walk away with processes you can start using immediately, plus the knowledge to take more tasks off your plate.
* Join Get Serious and you'll also get free access to the 2.5 hour Quick Wins workshop.
Highly recommended: a Claude Pro account ($34/month, or $28/month on an annual subscription). A Pro account is required to use Claude Cowork. For two or more people, consider Team seats.
Thursdays, 12 November to 17 December, 3:30pm to 5pm AEDT
90 minutes a week, plus optional office hours and online support. Replays and portal access available for 6 months.
Want accountability and support to build a customised AI system, in a small cohort of other filmmakers who get it? Together, we'll go deeper into Claude Chat and Claude Cowork, and learn to use Claude Code to build apps, tools and websites that live outside your personal Claude platform and can be shared with others.
With step-by-step demonstrations, shared prompts and individual support from me (Kirsty), this isn't just about how to use AI, but how to make it align with your current goals and the way you already work.
We'll start with the end in mind, looking at what you're trying to achieve and what it will mean to get there, then reverse engineer an AI system to help make it happen.
Along the way, I'll walk you through setups like:
- A second brain to capture all of your notes, meetings and project data
- A team of agents to manage repeated tasks across your projects
- A finance tracker that covers multiple bank accounts or budgets and flags any relevant changes
- An accountability tool that integrates with your email and to do list to keep you on track
- A dashboard to track and manage your projects
- A website or online app that updates automatically with your live information
Plus: custom prompts and instructions, online office hours with me (Kirsty) for extra support, and a space to build alongside others in the industry.
* Includes free access to the 2.5 hour Quick Wins workshop. Need to spread the cost? There's a payment plan.

Is this right for you?
(the anti-AI slop test)
I'm a believer in human-led work, and the way we create and put things out into the world is important to me. Just because you can make something with AI doesn't mean you should... and if you're looking to use AI as a way to replace your creativity or stand in for genuine human interactions, you're probably not going to resonate with the way I teach.
AI as a research, support and accountability tool that supplements your best work? Great!
Replacing yourself with generic content to spam others' inboxes or social media feeds and detract from genuine human connection? This might not be the right fit.
Some of the issues we'll work through
When I've spoken to people across the industry about AI, these are the concerns that have come up most:
- I'm wary of sharing private data and not knowing where it ends up
- I'm worried about copyright and IP issues
- I'm concerned about bias or unverified information in the content AI generates
- I'm still working out my moral and ethical boundaries around AI
- I don't know how I'll be perceived in the industry for using AI
- I'm worried about the environmental impact
